New courses such as B.Tech. (Biotech), M.F.Sc. (Fish Biotechnology), M.F.Sc. (Genetics and Breeding), M.F.Sc. (Pharmacology and Toxicology) and M.B.A. (Fisheries Enterprise Management) under Faculty of Basic Sciences would be offered from this academic year under a new facility, Institute of Postgraduate Studies, on the OMR campus, Chennai, said S. Felix, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Fisheries University.
Addressing a press conference at Fisheries College and Research Institute (FCRI) here on Wednesday, he said the TNFU was involved in several projects such as establishment of aquaculture estates in Thoothukudi, Chennai and Thanjavur districts and Rainbow Technology Park for ornamental fish at Madhavaram and Kolathur in Chennai.
The university was also offering two-year M.F.Sc. degree programme in 10 disciplines and Ph.D. degree in regular and part-time mode in eight disciplines.
Online application for admission to B.F.Sc. and B.E. (Fisheries Engineering) degree programmes for the academic year 2017-18 had started on May 10.
The application and other details were available on the university website, www.tnfu.ac.in. The last date for submission of applications was June 10.
A rank list would be published on the website and eligible candidates would be called for counselling in the second week of July, he also said.
