Members from the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce wished the incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi luck for his second term and said that they hoped to see farmers’ income doubled by 2022.
In a joint press statement by Senior President S. Rethinavelu and President N. Jegatheesan, the members said, “Prosperity of the agricultural economy will induce and activate industrial and business growth”.
The members said that the agricultural sector will play an important role in making India self-sufficient with respect to quality food as stated in the Vision India 2030 programme. With a rising need to export, over 60% of the public will soon move towards agriculture as the sector will become profitable. The youth too would be engaged in farming and allied industries, the statement read.
They also extended their congratulations to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam President M.K. Stalin for the party and its alliance’s victory by securing 37 out of 38 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu.
“The Chamber has repeatedly stressed and conclusively proved that presence of active and agile Parliament members from our State will be able to get approval and the required allocation of funds from the Central government for several schemes,” the statement said.
