Ramanathapuram/Sivaganga
A total of 13,846 candidates, including 1,408 women, appeared for the written examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board for the recruitment of Grade II Police constables, Jail wardens and Firemen in the two districts on Sunday with elaborate security arrangements.
In Ramanathapuram, a total of 7,166 candidates – 6,359 men and 807 women — appeared for the examination in seven centres in Ramanathapuram and Kilakarai and supervised by officers in the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (ADSP) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). In all, 8,552 candidates – 7,516 men and 1,036 women were issued hall tickets of whom, 1,386, including 229 women, absented.
The bandobust and security arrangements were made to prevent malpractices and copying, provide protection to examination materials, including question papers and answer sheets and restrict the entry of unauthorised candidates into the examination centres, Superintendent of Police Omprakash Meena said.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Ramanathapuram range) Rupesh Kumar Meena and the SP visited the examination centres and supervised the arrangements. The hour-long examination went off well, the SP said. The opening of question papers and distribution of answer sheets were videographed, he added.
In Sivaganga, a total of 5,680 candidates – 5,079 men and 601 women appeared for the examination held in eight centres in Karaikudi amid tight security. In all, 6,718 candidates, including 791 women were issued hall tickets and 1,038 candidates, including 188 women absented.
The district police set up help desks at new and old bus stand for the convenience of candidates. DIG (Madurai Range) Z Annie Vijaya and Superintendent of Police R Rohit Nathan visited the examination centres and supervised the arrangements. About 750 police personnel, headed by ADSPs and DSPs, were deployed to conduct the examination amid tight security, the SP said.
