Empty rakes to be moved on Pamban rail bridge

Ramanathapuram

The Madurai Division of Southern Railway has announced that movement of empty rakes of express trains on the Pamban rail bridge, being shut for repair works, would commence from Monday, instead of Sunday.

“As one more day is required to carry out the restoration works on Pamban rail bridge, the movement of empty rakes of express trains to Rameswaram on Pamban bridge for routine maintenance is postponed from January 6 to 7, 2019,” a release from the division said on Saturday.

Hence, Madurai - Rameswaram and Tiruchirappalli - Rameswaram trains hitherto operated up to Ramanathapuram will run up to Mandapam Railway station from January 7 to 15 and not from January 6 as announced earlier, the release said.

It said Train No. 18495 Rameswaram - Bhubaneswar Express, which is rescheduled to leave from Mandapam at 9 a.m., would leave at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
