Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M.K. Stalin on Saturday said that elections to Tamil Nadu Assembly might come soon and urged the cadre to be vigilant.
Addressing a meeting well-attended party cadre at Mangalapuram in the district, he said the present AIADMK government was shaky from very many aspects. He alleged that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami indulged in all kinds of mismanagement, maladministration and violations. In a nutshell, he was simply unconcerned about the deteriorating finances.
In an apparent reference to the AIADMK and late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, he said the people had, in the past, seen elected representatives being punished for corruption charges. Now, probably, the people may see a CM go to jail on murder charge. He came down heavily on Mr. Palaniswami to be behind the mysterious murder of five persons, including the watchman at the Kodanad estate, which had come out in the media.
His cabinet colleagues, particularly Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who had then demanded a CBI probe into the death of Jayalalithaa, maintained a stoic silence now. It was Mr. OPS, who suspected a mystery over the demise and sat near the samadhi of Jayalalithaa. After he was given a post, with the ‘blessings’ of the BJP, he had conveniently forgotten the demand. But, it remained alive in the minds of the people, he noted.
To put an end to these mysteries and to stop deterioration and save Tamil Nadu, the DMK will raise up, Mr. Stalin said amidst applause from the crowd and said, the daily political developments happening in Tamil Nadu and at the Centre gave an impression that it was the ‘beginning of the end’ for both the AIADMK and the BJP. Thus, the people and the DMK cadre should be ready to face both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections soon as the judgement on the disqualification of the 11 AIADMK MLAs case was likely to be pronounced any time in March.
Earlier at a gram sabha meeting convened by the party functionaries at Vadapudupatti in Periyakulam constituency, Mr. Stalin listened to the grievances of womenfolk for about an hour and assured them to give relief at the earliest.
