Dindigul is among the districts that have been given a red alert on Tuesday.
Heavy to very heavy rains are expected to lash the district and hence, the administration is taking every step to combat any emergency situation.
A total of 84 low-lying and flood-prone areas have been identified and 84 relief centres kept ready to shift people in case of any flooding.
A total of 597 first respondents, 67 veterinary doctors, 17 volunteers from Red Cross and Sathya Sai Seva Sangam, 18 snake rescuers and 185 persons are ready. Blocks and clogs have been cleared from 9,315 culvert bridges and channels and canals to ensure flow of water.
A total of 1067 waterbodies, including ponds and lakes, and their inlet and outflow channels for 144.13 km have been desilted and cleared in the district. A total of 22,720 sand bags have been kept ready.
