Hospital Day was celebrated at the Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital on Tuesday on the occasion of Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddi's birth anniversary.
Valaikappu was held for 12 pregnant women on the occasion.
Collector Sandeep Nanduri, who participated in the programme, felicitated 10 doctors and nurses for their remarkable service.
He said the oncology department in the hospital was being expanded at a cost of ₹2 crore using government and CSR funds. The hospital has applied for Laqshya certification, which will help reduce maternal and newborn mortality, improve quality of care.
He inspected the equipment procured by the hospital at a cost of ₹10 lakh under the Collector’s discretionary fund. Dean (in-charge) Ramasubramanian, Resident Medical Officer Silas Jeyamani and other doctors were present.
