AIADMK functionaries recalled that the DMK members had forgotten about the huge cut-outs put up by them during the then Union Minister M.K. Azhagiri’s birthday bash in Madurai three years ago.

Members of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) submitted a petition to officials at the Collectorate here on Tuesday demanding the removal of banners and flex boards erected by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in as many as 500 locations in the city and suburban pockets.

In their petition, the members claimed that the mega banners and flex boards had been erected without proper permission in many parts of the city ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit on August 22. The road dividers were totally blocked, hindering smooth flow of vehicles.

“During the visit of M.K. Stalin in July, we were not granted permission to erect more than two banners and cases were booked against us for the same,” they alleged.

DMK members V. Velusamy and G. Thalapathi further called for action against the AIADMK for flouting norms and said that they would approach the court seeking justice in public interest.

However, AIADMK functionaries recalled that the DMK members had forgotten about the huge cut-outs put up by them during the then Union Minister M.K. Azhagiri’s birthday bash in Madurai three years ago. A hoarding on the New Natham Road fell on a senior citizen and killed him, they pointed out.
