Urging the State Government to take sincere efforts to locate missing environmental activist R.S. Mugilan, members affiliated to various organisations staged a demonstration here on Saturday.

Mr. Mugilan, a prominent environmental activist, who had been raising his voice against Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project, neutrino project, hydrocarbon project and Sterlite Copper, was about to board a Madurai-bound train at Chennai Egmore on February 15 night. After reaching Egmore Railway Station along with his friend, he went missing.

As initial investigation by the police failed to yield any information about the missing activist, the case was handed over to CB-CID. Even though a month has passed, there has been no information about Mr. Mugilan leading to social activists raising their voices in protest against the delay in locating him.

Tirunelveli District Public Welfare Organisation president Annadurai presided over the agitation in which representatives of Thamizhaga Jananayaga Thozhilaalar Maiyam, Tamils Confederation against Genocide, Chinthanaippalli, Groundwater Protection Movement, Kottravai Literary Association, Sattapanchaayat and other outfits participated.
