TIRUNELVELI

The long-pending demand for creating Tenkasi district by bifurcating the sprawling Tirunelveli district may be realised soon as Minister for Revenue R.B. Udhayakumar has hinted that a formal announcement would soon come from Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Addressing a function organised here on Saturday by the ruling AIADMK on discussing Lok Sabha poll preparations and celebrating the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Mr. Udhayakumar said Tenkasi MLA C. Selvamohandas Pandian, who was pressing for the demand for a separate district quite long, urged me to make an announcement in today’s function itself.

The Minister claimed that ₹ 3-lakh crore investment the State had attracted during the recently held Global Investors’ Meet would create 11 lakh job opportunities.
