During a visit to Sakkimangalam, Illamanoor, Karupayoorani among other hamlets in the district, the Narikuravar community wanted help from the district administration. As a majority of them were familiar with rearing cattle and agreed to the concept of self-employment, it was proposed to get financial assistance from institutions such as NABARD under government schemes. The Collector assured to work out modalities and offer them a package.

The ‘kaatu nayakars' in the locality demanded issuance of community certificates with which alone they could get government benefits. Mr. Sagayam ordered the revenue authorities to get applications and issue certificates after due verification.

He offered to give the toppers fabulous prizes amidst cheers.
