Members of Tamil Nadu Agricultural Cooperative Bank Employees Association staged a demonstration in front of the Joint Registrar of Co-operative Societies office on Friday, highlighting their three-point charter of demands

The protesters requested the State government to quash a Government Order (G.O.), which facilitated transfer of secretaries of Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society (PACS) within the district. “This move will lead to corruption in the department. Deserving employees who had served many years will lose a chance to occupy the post,” said A.M. Asiriya Thevan, district secretary of the association.

The protesters also demanded that pension be given to serving employees, and ex-gratia to those . who retired from service. “The employees are unhappy as we have worked hard and still the government is not paying heed to our demands,” said M. Raja, president of the association.

The protesters also demanded incentive to employees of primary cooperative ration shops.
