The District Crime Branch police have arrested three persons for preparing fake police constable appointment orders and cheating the job seekers.

They said G. Ramachandran, 53, a weaver from Sankarankoil, approached his relative S. Mariappan, 23, of Netaji Nagar there for getting a government job for his son Muthu, a diploma-holder. Mariappan assured that he would seek the help of his friend M. Kumar alias Sermakumar of Villiseri near Kovilpatti for getting the post of a police constable.

Ramachandran gave ₹2.86 lakh to Mariappan and Sermakumar on various occasions and the duo gave an appointment order. When Muthu came to the District Police Office with the appointment order, he learnt that the duo had given a fake order.

When the police started an inquiry based on a complaint from Ramachandran, it was found that Sermakumar, Mariappan and their associate Bhoopathi had cheated two more persons, from whom they had taken another ₹ 8 lakh after giving fake orders.

After registering cases, the police arrested Mariappan, Sermakumar and Bhoopathi on Friday and seized ₹53,500 from them.
