CD player
found in jail
A CD player and four compact discs, said to be in wornout condition, were found in the high-security prisoners’ block in the Central Prisons here on Tuesday.
A jail source said that the player was highly rusted and the CDs in tatters. “The player and CDs were not supposed to be found in the prisoners’ block and they are considered contraband as for as jail manuals are concerned,” the source added.
The contraband was reportedly found buried in the garden. Though no police complaint had been lodged so far, the jail source said that internal enquiry was on to ascertain as to when and how the materials sneaked into the prisons.
