Yoga guru Baba Ramdev advocated buying Indian goods and boycotting foreign brands as they “loot the public”.

He was speaking at a ‘Yoga enrichment programme’ at Vivekananda College here on Friday. Baba Ramdev said, “As children of India, we must be desi and buy desi . I haven’t used any foreign goods till date,” he said. He added that students too must develop the habit of supporting indigenous brands.

The yoga guru also said he had never had strong political leanings or provided support to a particular political party. “I do not know who will win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but the fight between the different political parties makes democracy interesting. I have never supported any political party,” he said.

Baba Ramdev explained the need for yoga in daily life and said the he had helped several individuals get cured of stress and hypertension because of his breathing techniques. He said yoga could help in gaining focus – a trait necessary for students.

“Students should aim to become yogis and achieve the status of mental peace. Yoga does not discriminate based on caste or economic background. Everyone should practise and perform this activity,” he said.

During the event, several students of Vivekananda College performed yoga alongside Baba Ramdev.
