Members of Popular Front of India, Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi staged demonstrations in separate places in the city on Sunday, demanding construction of Babri Masjid at Ayodhya, where it was demolished on December 6, 1992.

PFI’s district secretary K. Ziyaudden led a protest in which the speakers demanded punishment for those responsible for the demolition of the 800-old structure. The protest formed part of a nation-wide agitation of the party. Party district secretary S. Mohammed Abhudhir was present.

Members of TMMK, led by its district secretary Sheik Ibrahim, staged a demonstration pressing for the same demands. District secretary of Manithaneya Makkal Katchi Sikkander Basha led the party cadres in the agitation.
