Atos Syntel opens office at Gangaikondan IT SEZ

Atos Syntel, a global leader in digital transformation, inaugurated its new office at Gangaikondan Information Technology Special Economic Zone here on Monday.

Atos Syntel, which has acquired 100 acres in the tax-free SEZ, has developed 25 acres in the first phase with a 2.50-lakh-square-feet building. After starting operations with 500 software engineers in the second week of June, the company will increase the number of skilled employees in phases up to 2,300.

“Our Tirunelveli campus will leverage the region’s high-quality talent pool and provide opportunities to solve complex business problems using technology,” Sean Narayanan, Senior Executive Vice-President and Head of Business and Platform Solutions, told reporters here on Monday after the inauguration of the office.

“Though the quality of students here is good, we’ve also planned to train faculty members of leading educational institutions of this region so that they, in turn, can produce students with employable technical and soft skills that the industry needs,” Mr. Narayanan said.

He said the company would commence the second phase of development once it was satisfied with the quality of output here.

Chief Delivery Officer Ram Singampalli said the company’s Gangaikondan office had been located optimally in a region producing a large number of engineers every year. The company already had delivery centres in Pune, Chennai, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Chief Executive Officer Rakesh Khanna exuded confidence that the Gangaikondan campus, which would function as an ‘independent unit’, would produce excellent results in providing cutting-edge technology solutions.

Collector Shilpa Prabhakar Satish, who had played a vital role in preparing and fine-tuning Tamil Nadu Government’s ‘single window clearance’ system for industrial investments when she was the Executive Vice-Chairperson of Industries Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau and heading the Investment Promotion Wing, met the top brass of Atos Syntel during the inaugural function. She promised them that the district administration would extend all possible support to the software firm.

Company sources said Atos Syntel is a global leader in digital transformation with 1.20 lakh employees in 73 countries and an annual revenue of over € 11 billion.
