Annadhanam scheme extended

Total number of temples in Madurai district goes up to 20

The annadhanam scheme was launched in five more temples here taking the total number of temples having the scheme to 20 in Madurai district.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had announced the extension of the scheme to 106 more temples across the State.

Already, 360 temples in Tamil Nadu were providing annadhanam (free meals) to devotees who visit the temple.

Sellur K. Raju, Minister for Cooperation, marked the extension of the scheme by inaugurating the annadhanam at Yoga Narasimha Perumal Temple at Narasingham.

P. Salaimuthu, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Council leader in the Madurai Corporation, B. Murugesh, District Revenue Officer, G. Selvi, Executive Officer of Kalamega Perumal Temple at Tirumogur, of which Yoga Narasimha Perumal Temple is a sub-temple, S. Ramachandran, ‘Thakkar' (Fit Person), Kalamega Perumal Temple, took part in the function along with other officials from Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.

The other four temples in the district to have the the annadhanam scheme were the Meenakshi Chokkanathar Temple at Thirumangalam, Chithirai Ratha Vallabha Perumal Temple at Kuruvithurai near Sholavandhan, Arasamaram Pillayar Temple and Veeraraghava Perumal Temple.
