Asserting that the AMMK would win the elections, party general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Wednesday said that all other parties were contesting only to secure the second position.

Addressing a campaign in support of AMMK candidate R. Sundararaj, he said that people should hand him victory by a margin of 50,000 votes.

He said that only the AIADMK party symbol and name remained with Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, while most of the cadre had come to his side. “It has become clear that the government will be dislodged by May 23,” he added.

“Everybody remembers the police shooting that killed 13 persons. The time has come to find out who was behind the firing,” he said.

Mr. Dhinakaran said that Mr. Sundararaj had sacrificed his position for the party despite the lure of being able to amass wealth as a ruling party MLA. “He should be made the MLA of Ottapidaram once again,” he said.

The people of RK Nagar had voted for the AMMK because they found that the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol was in the hands of “betrayers.”
