AMMK functionaries get anticipatory bail

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday granted anticipatory bail to 21 members of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) who were booked on charges of pulling down flex boards that featured Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and other leaders in Pasumpon during the Thevar jayanthi event.

Justice G. K. Ilanthiraiyan granted the anticipatory bail. The AMMK functionaries were booked by the police under Sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with deadly weapons), 504 (breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 3 (1) of Tamil Nadu Property Prevention of Damage and Loss (TNPPDL) Act.
