TIRUNELVELI

Two persons, including a woman, were killed in a road accident near Gangaikondan on Monday.

Police said Subramanian (56) of Velalarkulam near Seethaparmanallur near here and his relatives were returning home in a van after visiting his newly-wed daughter Esakkiammal and son-in-law Vinodh in Coimbatore.

When the van was crossing Gangaikondan around 5 a.m., the driver Jayapaul (42) of Seethaikurichi lost control of the vehicle that hit the concrete median and overturned on the opposite carriageway.

While Jayapaul and Subramainan’s wife Parvathi were killed on the spot, seven others sustained injuries.

The Gangaikondan police sent the bodies to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital. The injured are undergoing treatment at TVMCH.
