Rotary Club of Madurai West on Friday presented the Vocational Excellence award to Soma Basu, Assistant Editor, The-Hindu , Madurai, in recognition of her professional excellence.
The club president C.R. Chandran presented the award and citation to Ms. Soma Basu. S. Anbu, Professor of Horticulture, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), and V. Ponram, Police Inspector, Special Branch – Criminal Investigation Department (SB-CID), were also presented with the awards. Mr. Ponram was honoured for having been chosen for the President's Police Medal for meritorious service.
Dr. Anbu had won the TNAU and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research's award for excellent administration of the Horticultural College and Research Institute, Periakulam. Reading the citation, NAN. Narayanen, past president of the club, highlighted Ms. Soma Basu's contributions in the Metro Plus supplement column ‘Road Less Travelled.'
