A.K. Goel, an Indian Railway Stores Service officer, took over as Divisional Railway Manager on Monday. He has succeeded Anil Singhal.
Mr. Goel said that he would give importance for safety and cleanliness. Among his priority areas would be passenger amenities and monitoring the on-going projects in the division. “We will strive to make the division best in the country on safety and cleanliness aspects,” he added.
Mr. Goel, who joined the Indian Railways in 1981, was previously the Executive Director, Railway Board, New Delhi, in charge of procurement policy, planning and electronic procurement, and supply-chain management initiative.
A mechanical engineering graduate from Regional Engineering College, Allahabad, Mr. Goel had worked in various capacities in Stores Department as Chief Materials Manager, Northern Railway and South Eastern Railway and Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer and Senior Electronic Data Processing Manager in the Eastern Railway.
