The need for life-time follow-up treatment of children afflicted with haemophilia was highlighted by speakers at a meeting organised at Meenakshi Mission Hospital here on Sunday to observe World Haemophilia Day.

P. Krishnamoorthy, Haemotologist and secretary Madurai chapter of Haemophilia Society, spoke about the disease and the condition of children affected by it.

He said that the disease was caused by a genetic disorder and manifested itself only among the male children.

Dr. Krishnamoorthy said that the Haemophilia Society of Meenakshi Mission Hospital was willing to enrol children with haemophilia to provide them the necessary advice on care and treatment, said a hospital press release.
