Vice-Chancellor R. Karpaga Kumaravel said here on Friday that he had written to the President requesting her to inaugurate the Centre, sanctioned by the University Grants Commission (UGC). “We are awaiting her consent and once the date is given, all steps would be taken for inauguration,” he said.

For the presentation of ‘Tamil Peravai Semmal Awards’ given to eminent scholars, the university has constituted a committee with the Vice-Chancellor as convenor. Ranganath, Director, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and J.A. K.Tareen, Vice-Chancellor, Pondicherry Central University.

The university was waiting for a Government Order from the State Government to go ahead with recruitment of lecturers to fill vacancies in various departments.

As many as 103 lecturer posts were lying vacant in regular departments and 21 teaching post vacancies in the Directorate of Distance Education. Steps would also be taken to fill non-teaching vacancies, he said.
