Enhanced security at counting centre

The district administration has stepped up vigil in the counting centre at Konam polytechnic near Nagercoil, where the counting of votes for six Assembly segments including Kanyakumari, Nagercoil, Padmanabhapuram, Colachel, Killiyur and Vilavancode would take place on May 13.

According to the Collector, Rajendra Ratnoo, web cameras had already been installed in the counting centre and the local police along with the para-military forces had been posted to prevent any untoward incident.

Moreover, the fire and rescue service personnel were also in position at Konam polytechnic to meet any eventuality.

A meeting in this connection was held at Collectorate in which the Superintendent of Police, K. Bhavaneeswari, District Revenue Officer, Prabhakaran, officials of Public Works Department, .Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and other departments participated on Saturday.
