Aurobindo Society's anniversary held

The centenary of arrival of Sri Aurobindo to Puducherry, the golden jubilee of Sri Aurobindo Society founded by The Mother and the seventh anniversary of its Madurai centre were celebrated at a function on Sunday.

Vice-Chairman of Aravind Eye Care System G. Natchiar, who declared open sales and computer centres on the occasion, explained how The Mother discouraged superstition and, in its place, insisted on tireless human effort.

According to a press release, Sri Aurobindo Society chairman Pradeep Narang spoke about the activities of the society and the impact on people of its rural development projects. N. Thiruvenkatam, Chairman of the Tamil Nadu chapter of the Society, wanted the participants to undertake activities beneficial to humanity. V. S. Balakrishnan, secretary of the local centre, welcomed the gathering.
