The newly inaugurated Aavin Parlour, which is open round the clock, is doing brisk business with average daily sales standing at nearly Rs. 25,000 in its first ten days.
Good response
“The response from the public has been very good and also several hospitals, hostels, and hotels are located in the vicinity of the parlour, which ensures a constant flow of people. We hope to double the sales to Rs. 50,000,” K. Thangarajan, General Manager (in charge) of Madurai Aavin, told The Hindu .
A children’s park would be developed near the parlour thereby providing relaxation and recreation for the children and Aavin customers.
All the products of Aavin would be available at the parlour, he said, adding that the parlour was seeing brisk business even at odd hours like 2 a.m.
Adequate stock
Attributing the shortage of ghee and butter felt till some time back to “lean season,” he assured the public that it was now available as 10 tonnes of ghee has been kept in stock.
According to S. Karthikeyan, Marketing Manager, the parlour did a business of around Rs. 2.42 lakh in the ten days since it was inaugurated by the Commissioner of Dairy Development, Apurva Varma, on November 20.
Giving a break-up of the sales, he said that around 200 kilograms of milk peda, 50 kg of Gulab Jamun, 345 kg of ghee, 50 litres of curd, 50 kg butter and 125 kg of Mysore pa has been sold in the ten days.
Regarding milk sales, he said that of the total sale of 2,750 litres, of which Standardised Milk constituted 375 litres, Premium Milk 1,600 litres with Fresh Cow’s Milk making up the rest.
Sale on Sundays
“While the average sales on weekdays was Rs. 25,000, Sundays’ sales are higher by nearly Rs. 10,000 bringing in a revenue of Rs. 35,000,” informed Dr. Karthikeyan.
