₹8.30 lakh seized from engineer

MADURAI

In a surprise check, Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption sleuths seized ₹8.30 lakh from the official quarters of an Assistant Engineer of Public Works Department at Tallakulam on Thursday night. According to DVAC sources, the sleuths conducted the surprise check around 9 p.m. following a tip-off that the engineer in Periyar Vaigai Basin Sub Division, C. Senthil Kumar, had collected bribe money from contractors.

The officials, led by DSP Sathyaseelan, seized ₹8.30 lakh from his possession for which Senthil Kumar could not account for. Further investigation was going on till late night.
