Virudhunagar district has received ₹22.20 crore towards compensation for maize that faced crop loss due to Fall Armyworm attack.

Speaking at the farmers’ grievance redressal day meeting here on Friday, Collector A. Sivagananam, said that 30,315 farmers who had cultivated maize on 25,047.35.0 hectares of land faced crop loss.

The compensation fund has been disbursed to the tahsildars and the money would soon be deposited to the bank accounts of the affected farmers. He appealed to the farmers to provide their correct bank details to the officials concerned.
