2 injured in clash between DMK, AIADMK workers in Madurai

Two party activists were today injured in a clash between DMK and AIADMK workers over the unauthorised use of a car at Melur constituency in the district.

Thirty persons, most of them DMK workers, were arrested in connection with the clash, police said.

Trouble broke out when AIADMK workers objected to the use of a car by DMK cadres alleging that their rivals had not obtained permission from election officials.

One DMK and an AIADMK cadre were injured in the clash in which the car was also damaged, they said.

SP (Madurai) Asra Garg rushed to the spot for an on the spot investigation.

Tension prevailed in the area and armed policemen had been posted in Melur town, about 40 km from here, and surrounding areas to monitor the situation.
