A total of 18 persons were injured in a jallikattu held at Veeruchinnampatti village in Sanarpatti union, near here, on Sunday. Two grievously injured tamers were referred to Madurai GRH for treatment.
Around 440 bulls from Dindigul, Tiruchi, and Madurai districts were tackled by 300 registered tamers. Protection committee members made elaborate arrangements to regulate tamers. Police were deployed in strength to manage the crowd and spectators.
Wooden barricades were erected and play arena was covered with iron fence. Children and women stood on both side of the barricade to witness the event.
