: World Habitat Day celebrations in the city will be inaugurated by Finance Minister K. M. Mani here on Monday at Ashir Bhavan, Kacherippady. The celebrations are scheduled to begin at 3 p. m.
A press release from Kerala State Housing Board said that World Habitat Day had been celebrated since 1986 on the first Monday of October.
The theme of this year’s celebrations is ‘public place for all’, said the statement. Prizes for children who participated in a painting competition on the theme ‘housing for all’ will be distributed during the programme. The celebrations are being organised jointly by the Department of Housing and Kerala State Housing Board.
Managing director of Kochi Metro Rail Limited Elias George will deliver the message for the Habitat Day. K. V. Thomas, MP, will deliver the keynote address. Grihashree , a tri-monthly publication from the Housing Board, will be released on the occasion.
