Workers injured

Two migrant labourers were injured when a compound wall crumbled and fell on them on Tuesday afternoon. Ashok Naik, 27, and Prabhul, 34, both natives of Orissa, were working on a drainage near Nettoor railway gate.

During the work, the compound wall of a house adjoining the drain fell on the two men. Both were rushed to a private hospital here.

Hospital authorities said that both of them suffered from fractures.

Kerala a model state: Minister

: Excise Minister K. Babu said that Kerala was a model for the country in implementing dream projects and welfare schemes for the public and giving a new face to development.

The Minister was speaking at the Republic Day parade held at the parade ground at Civil Station, Kakkanad.

Seminar

Dr. Francis Kallarakkal, Archbishop of Varapuzha, will inaugurate the seminar on ‘Women’s education and Missionaries’ at 11 a.m.

National workshop

The Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer Chair on Human Rights, School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology, will organise a three-day national workshop from Thursday. The function will be held at the School of Legal Studies auditorium from 4.30 p.m., said a Cusat release.
