: A 20-year-old woman died on the spot when she was hit by an express train while crossing the railway line at Angamaly Railway station on Monday.

The incident took place at around 8.20 am  when Divya, daughter of Sebastian, Manjapra near Angamali, was knocked down by the Aleppey-Dhanbad Express train while trying to climb on to the second railway platform along with her two friends. She was on her way to Thrissur where she had joined for a media course at a private institute about two weeks ago.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased did not see the speeding train as there was heavy rain in the morning and her body was mutilated to pieces beyond recognition. Her two friends who managed to climb on to the second platform by the time the train reached the spot couldn't drag her to safety.

The body was handover to relatives after post post-mortem proceedings at a private Hospital in Angamali.
