Money, ATM cards of patient stolen from hospital

The Central Police on Saturday arrested a woman on charge of stealing the money and ATM cards of a woman patient who had come for treatment at the General Hospital.

The arrested was identified as Divya Pius, 20, of Thrikkakara.

The wallet containing valuables had gone missing from in front of MICU following which the victim’s relative lodged a petition with the Central police.

The police examined the CCTV footage at the hospital, which revealed the visuals of the accused. In the ensuing hunt, the accused was nabbed from nearby.

Two held for robbery

In another incident, the Central police on Saturday arrested two persons on robbery charges.

The accused were identified as Niyas Rashid, 21, of Mattancherry, and Nausharban aka Chikku, 18, of Fort Kochi. They were accused of robbing the mobile phone and ₹3,000 from a motorcyclist at South.

Niyas was found in suspicious circumstances during police patrol the other day and on questioning it emerged that one of the mobile phones in his possession was a stolen one, the police claimed.

According to the police, a three-member gang on a scooter had robbed the mobile phone from a resident of Cherthala.
