A group of people under the aegis of Puthuvype LPG Terminal Virudha Janakeeya Samara Samiti held a day-long dharna in front of the administrative building of Cochin Port Trust on Monday demanding that the port trust withdraw from the land lease agreement with the Indian Oil Corporation, which is building an LPG receiving jetty and a storage complex in Puthuvype on port land.

Samiti chairman M.B. Jayaghosh said the upcoming LPG complex is a threat to the lives of the people in Puthuvype.

Work on the ₹715-crore LPG receiving jetty and storage tanks have been stalled since early last year on account of the protest by people living near the project.
