Water supply to many areas still a concern

Water supply to some parts of Kadamakudy panchayat has become a major concern for the Kerala Water Authority (KWA).

Supply to Moolampilly and Chennur islands has not been fully restored.

The pipeline supplying water to Chennur island is reported to be damaged as people are not getting water pumped from Pizhala. However, the KWA is yet to identify the extent of the damage. The islands get their supply from the Muppathadam scheme.

In case of Moolampilly, KWA continued to supply water by connecting the main distribution pipeline through a fire-hydrant hose from a water tanker fitted with a pump. The KWA is in the process of procuring a 200-metre HDPE pipeline that will connect it to the pipeline from Pizhala. The connection had been washed away in the floods.

While the supply of water to the city has become almost normal, there are still areas such as Cheranalloor panchayat at the fag end of the distribution line, where water is still trickling in.
