Vyttila flyover may skip deadline

more-in

With only 50% works of Vyttila flyover complete ever since works began in December 2017, it has to be seen whether PWD (NH wing) will commission the six-lane structure in May 2019, as was scheduled.

The department not carrying out preparatory works like developing slip roads and integrating the NH Bypass with service roads prior to beginning work on the flyover are cited as among the reasons. The PWD’s reluctance to emulate DMRC in casting girders and pier caps at spacious yards away from the flyover worksite has resulted in a lot of space at the State’s biggest and congested junction being set apart for casting them at the flyover site itself.

Kundannoor flyover

The PWD committed the same blunder in Kundannoor too where a six-lane flyover is coming up. The flyover has to be commissioned by March 2020. Slip roads to streamline vehicle movement have not been developed at the two junctions, a year since flyover works began.
