Vigilance raid at lottery office

The Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau (VACB) team on Wednesday raided the District Lottery office in Kochi following allegations of misappropriations in the distribution of lottery tickets to agents and vendors in Ernakulam.

According to VACB officials, the search followed a complaint that about 90,000 lottery tickets of the Kerala State Lotteries were sold to illegal wholesale dealers in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Search at the District lottery Office, located in the Revenue Tower near the Ernakulam Boat Jetty, started in the morning and continued till late evening. Officials seized several documents indicating selective distribution of lottery tickets, in addition to details about the lottery agents and vendors. “Preliminary investigation will be completed soon and a report would be submitted before Vigilance superintendent within two days’’, they said.
