Truck used to carry red sanders seized

January 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - Kochi:

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Wednesday seized a lorry that was used to carry the 12 tonnes of red sanders that were seized from the International Container Terminal at Vallarpadam last week. The lorry was found abandoned along the side of the Container Terminal Road, officials said.

DRI officials found the red sanders in a consignment that was supposed to contain plywood. The container had been checked and sealed by Customs officials. The plywood was allegedly removed and replaced with red sanders along the route from the container freight station at Kalamassery to the container terminal. — Staff Reporter
