Tourism schemes planned for Kalamandalam

Tourism Minister A.P. Anil Kumar has said that the Tourism Department will devise schemes to develop the Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University for Art and Culture under the Nila Protection Project.

Tourism Minister A.P. Anil Kumar has said that the Tourism Department will devise schemes to develop the Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University for Art and Culture under the Nila Protection Project.

He was addressing a meeting at Kalamandalam on Sunday to felicitate Central and State Sangeetha Nataka Akademi award winners.

“Independent tourism schemes benefitting Kalamandalam will also be planned,” he said.

The artistes who were felicitated included Kathakali maestros Kalamandalam Gopi, Chemechery Kunhiraman Nair, Koodiyattom maestro Kalamandalam Sivan Namboodiri, Mizhavu exponent P.K. Narayanan Nambiar, Mohiniyattom dancers Sugandhi and Hymavathy.

The memento for Mancombu Sivasankara Pillai was received by his disciple Gopa Kumar.

K. Radhakrishnan, MLA, Kalamandalam Vice-Chancellor P. N. Suresh, Kalamandalam Satyabhama, Mankulam Krishnan Namboodiri and Vasanthy Menon were present.
