Thrikkakara PHC wins award

Hygiene and infection control were among criteria for Swachh Bharat honour

The urban primary health centre (PHC) at Thrikkakara has bagged the award for the best hospital under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the State.

The main criteria were hygiene, infection control, infrastructure and waste management.

The PHC will get a cash prize of ₹2 lakh. The hospital management committee under the Thrikkakara municipality supervises the PHC’s functioning.

Services available at the PHC are OP laboratory, immunisation, ECG and ICU. On Wednesdays, a children’s clinic is available and on Fridays, a skin clinic will function. A mental health clinic will also function on the first Friday of every month.

The PHC also offers palliative care service.

The PHC also sends junior public health nurses for house visits. Besides, there are 12 ASHA workers attached to the PHC for community health services.
