Three more held in blackmailing case in Kalamassery

The Kalamassery police on Tuesday arrested three persons in connection with the blackmailing of a businessman here in August.

The arrested have been identified as Moideen aka Kakka Moideen, 45, Anil Kumar, 30, both hailing from Kasaragod and Fathimath Fazeela, 24, of Kannur. Earlier, the police had arrested six persons in this connection including Muhammad Nissam, husband of Fathimath Fazeela and the first accused in the case. According to police, Moideen is an accused in a murder case at Kumbala police station while Anil Kumar was wanted in connection with a theft case at Badiyadukka. “The three were absconding since the arrest of six persons a couple of months ago and were arrested on the basis of a tip-off received from the other accused’’, officials said.

The woman, Fathimath Fazeela, befriended the victim, a businessman through Facebook and gained his trust.
