Three KSU activists arrested

Finding of coffin, wreaths near DCC office

The Ernakulam Central Police on Wednesday arrested three KSU-Youth Congress leaders in connection with the finding of a coffin and wreaths at the entrance to the Ernakulam District Congress Committee (DCC) office last week.

According to the police, former KSU State general secretary Abdul Shabeer aka Shabeer Muttom; KSU State general secretary and Kothamangalam municipal councillor Anoop T. Ittan, and Youth Congress Aluva Mandalam general secretary Mujeeb were arrested on a complaint lodged by DCC president T.J. Vinod. They were later released on bail.

Sources said the trio was associated with KS Brigade, a collective in the name of a senior Congress leader from Kannur. Earlier, the police had received CCTV footage showing the accused buying coffin from a shop at Pachalam in the city.
