Residents of Pandit Karuppan Road protest against the disrepair of the road between Thevara ferry junction and Mattammal in the city on Tuesday.

Residents of Pandit Karuppan Road took to the streets to protest the Kochi Corporation’s inability to repair the road between Thevara ferry junction and Mattammal which was dug up by the Kerala Water Authority in January this year.

Even after the expiry of seven months, there has been no move to properly fill the trenches and resurface the road, the residents complained, demanding the resignation of Mayor Soumini Jain and the local councillor Elizabeth.

The badly damaged road has led to numerous accidents in these months, they alleged and resolved to intensify the agitation and protest including road blockade if the apathy continues.

Telfin C. Jose and Benny Kurian led the rally.
