A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court has asked the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to explain the steps taken at the Sabarimala temple regarding the scope of installing scanners for the physical screening of employees and the use of technology for the automatic separation and counting of currency notes, coins, and gold and silver ornaments using robotic mechanism.
The order was issued by a Bench consisting of Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice Sunil Thomas.
The Joint Director of Local Fund Audit, TDB, had approached the court seeking orders to direct the board secretary to install closed-circuit television at Sannidhnam to monitor the activities at Sabarimala Bhandaram.
Earlier, K. Babu, Special Commissioner, Sabarimala, had submitted to the court that it was necessary to introduce a new counting mechanic at bhandaram in association with various banks and volunteers in the wake of thefts in kanikka (offerings). — Special Correspondent
