District Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareed has said that a seven-member team has been constituted to inquire into the incident in which the house of Eloor municipal councillor Joseph Antony was destroyed in a cooking gas cylinder explosion on Wednesday.
He said that action would be taken based on the report of the committee. Mr. Pareed visited the house on Thursday.

He said that incidents of similar nature that took place in other parts of the district had also come to his notice. Indications that these were not one-off incidents would be taken in to account seriously. The seven-member team led by Assistant Collector Swagath Bhandari Ranveerchand has been asked to investigate these incidents as well.
The team is composed of the district supply officer, explosives controller, factories and boilers inspector, and representatives of the Indian Oil Corporation and fire force. The team will seek the service of experts in the field besides looking into possible anomalies in the production of cylinders or their filling.
In the backdrop of recurring accidents, the team will lay down guidelines to be observed by the oil companies, gas filling centres, and consumers.
The Collector asked oil companies to instil confidence among consumers.
