The Travancore Devswom Board (TDB) has informed a Division Bench of the Kerala High Court that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) did not use the premises of Thrikkadavoor Mahadeva Temple, Kollam, for any of its activities.

Suo motu case

The submission was made in a suo motu case initiated on a complaint that RSS was using the temple premises for imparting arms training and storing arms and explosives.

The Ombudsman for Travancore and Cochin Devaswom Boards pointed out that he had received a complaint from a native of Thrikkadavoor, alleging that the temple had become a centre of arms training of RSS.

A Bench comprising Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice Sunil Thomas recorded the TDB’s submission.

The Bench also recorded the submission of the board that activists of RSS, along with other Hindu devotees, would voluntarily assist the temple authorities in issues related to festivals.

The Bench ordered surrendering of keys the building or rooms allotted to the temple advisory committee of the temple to the TDB.
