Finance Minister K.M. Mani has sought speedy completion of the ongoing probe into the bar bribery case.
Talking to media persons here on his return after a foreign trip on Sunday, Mr. Mani said the need of the hour was to complete the investigation at the earliest and bring out the truth. While refusing to the comment on the observations by KPCC vice president V.D. Satheesan, he sought to agree to the views expressed by senior Congress leader A.K. Antony on corruption.
‘‘Anybody can raise allegations of corruption but the focus should be on probing them and bringing out the truth. Also, stern action should be taken against the guilty,’’ he said.
To another query, he said there was no need at all to postpone the United Democratic Front (UDF) zonal meetings to another date.
Regarding the procurement of natural rubber, Mr. Mani said the process was slated to begin in June at a price of Rs.150 a kg.
The Finance Minister denied reports on lapses in procurement of paddy and said an additional fund of Rs.50 crore would be allocated for the purpose in June.
